Summary: Jake Brigance is back in Ford County Mississippi going about life as a country lawyer when he assigned by the judge in the area to defend a teenage boy who shot and killed a local cop and vicious drunk. Jake wants nothing to do with this case but through bankruptcy and small town politics he finds the will to defend him.
Comments: Easily the best of the series. There is a glimmer at the end for more then welcome Jake Brigance novels.
